Superintendent’s Remark
Dear soldiers, veterans, and friends in the Gangshan area,
Greetings to you all!
I am honored to have been appointed to serve in the Gangshan Branch of the Kaohsiung Armed Forces General Hospital since August 1st , 2022. I am delighted to work alongside colleagues and friends at the Gangshan Branch, continuing to provide high-quality medical care for soldiers and residents in the Gangshan area.
The Gangshan Branch of the Kaohsiung Armed Forces General Hospital has a long and storied history. It traces its roots back to the establishment of the “Second Air Force Hospital” in Kunming, Yunnan, in 1938. Over the years, it has undergone organizational changes and is now known as the “Gangshan Branch of the Kaohsiung Armed Forces General Hospital.” Additionally, the Gangshan Branch houses the Aviation Physiology Training Center, the only aviation physiology training and research unit in the armed forces of the R.O.C.
Under the guidance and planning of the Military Medical Bureau, the Aviation Physiology Training Center owns state-of-the-art training equipment on par with advanced nations in Europe and America. Professional personnel are continuously sent to the United States for training, and research findings have been presented at international aviation medical conferences. The center has been awarded the training quality certification by the United States Air Force six times. Currently, efforts are underway to plan a new human centrifuge project to strengthen flight safety training for military personnel and enhance aerial combat capabilities.
Under the dedicated leadership of past directors, the Gangshan Branch has strived to provide comprehensive medical care. In addition to the existing outpatient services in internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics, pediatrics, rehabilitation, family medicine, and psychiatry, occupational medicine clinics and early intervention therapy services have been established. Furthermore, the hospital is committed to enhancing its medical capabilities with the support and guidance of the Military Medical Bureau. Advanced medical equipment such as high-end computed tomography scanners and modern hyperbaric oxygen therapy chambers have been procured to provide more comprehensive services to the Gangshan area.
As I begin my service at the Gangshan Branch, I pledge to work diligently and fulfill my duties with dedication. Guided by our hospital’s mission of “life, health, safety, and care,” and driven by our vision of becoming a “model community hospital with aviation medical characteristics,” I am committed to ensuring the sustainable operation of the Gangshan Branch. Together with my colleagues at the hospital, I aim to establish the Gangshan Branch as the most trusted community hospital in the southern region for both military personnel and civilians. I look forward to receiving your feedback to make strides toward improving our hospital and wish you a healthy, prosperous, and successful life.
