Introduction
Our hospital is an exclusive hospital for the military with excellent traditions and characteristics. It is an important center for aviation medical research and training in the the military medicine.
The hospital was founded in Kunming in the 27th year of the Republic of China and was named the “Second Air Force Hospital”. In July of the 1987th year of the Republic of China, in line with the National Military Organization’s lean reconstruction plan, the hospital was expanded into a fourth-level medical unit in the National Military Medical System. It is now named “Gangshan Branch of Kaohsiung Armed Forced General Hospital “.
Our hospital is located in Gangshan District, Kaohsiung City, between Tainan City and Kaohsiung City. It provides the best medical care services to people in areas with poor medical resources such as Qiaotou in the south, Qishan in the east, and Ziguan, Mituo, and Yong’an in the west. It only takes about five to ten minutes to get to our hospital from the provincial highway or the Gangshan Interchange of Zhongshan Expressway. Therefore, our hospital can provide rapid and effective emergency medical treatment for car accident victims, factory workers and other emergency service.
The hospital covers an area of six hectares with a construction area of 23,710 square meters. The buildings include: medical building, power center, staff dormitory, sewage treatment plant, automobile and motorcycle parking lot, basketball court, morgue and aviation physiology training building and other facilities. The medical building is a building with five floors above ground and one underground floor. The first floor houses the outpatient department, emergency room, laboratory department, radiology department, registration room, pharmacy and service desk. The second floor houses the operating room, ICU, dialysis room, library and administrative departments. Floors three to five are wards of various departments. The first basement floor houses the medical record room, supply center, medicine store, rehabilitation room and restaurant.
Our hospital was evaluated as a regional hospital by the Department of Health, Executive Yuan in 1982. It has also established a referral medical network for public insurance, labor insurance, rural insurance and public patients with the Zuoying Armed Forces General Hospital, Kaohsiung Armed Forced General Hospital, Kaohsiung Medical University Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital, Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital and Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital. In terms of medical operations, the diagnosis and treatment service departments include: internal medicine, surgery, orthopedics, obstetrics and gynecology, ophthalmology, dentistry, pediatrics, otolaryngology, urology, dermatology, psychiatry, rehabilitation and hyperbaric oxygen therapy, etc. In order to improve the ability to care for critically ill patients, the intensive care unit was established in November 2001. The number of hospital beds includes 116 acute beds, 30 chronic beds, and 40 special beds. In addition, in order to improve the medical standards of our hospital, our hospital joined the Taiwan Medical Management Society in 2002 and actively introduced the medical care indicators developed by THIS to improve the quality of medical care.

- Application of computer information: In addition to expanding the application of computers in various departments of the hospital, we will also actively develop various computer management systems and integrate them with the internet to provide faster and more accurate medical information and services.
- Strengthen research and development: Encourage colleagues in the hospital to engage in case studies and thesis writing, and expand cooperation with medical centers and regional hospitals to improve the hospital’s clinical technology and research standards, and further move towards the goal of becoming a regional teaching hospital.
