Diabetes Care clinic
In order to provide diabetic patients with better quality of care, our hospital has set up a diabetes health care clinic. Currently, the physician in charge is Dr. Kao,Chien-Jen Director of the Department of Family Medicine, who is the instructing physician of the Kaohsiung Diabetes Care Network. In addition, Dr. Chien,Chih-Yu Director of the Department of Gastroenterology and Dr.Chang,Jing-Chun Director of the Department of Nephrology, are participating in the Diabetes Co-Care Network Project, providing the public with a more comprehensive diabetes prevention and treatment service. Currently, there are three Credentialled Diabetes Educators (CDE), Dr. Kao,Chien-Jen, Nurse Chen,Nai-Cai and Dietitian Chang Ai-Wen, who are responsible for the implementation of diabetes health education in our hospital.
Health Education Consultation
- Diabetes awareness, prevention and control
- Diabetes Diet and Exercise Consultation
- Chronic complications of diabetes: heart disease/stroke, kidney lesion/kidney dialysis, sensory abnormalities in limbs/amputation, macular degeneration/blindness, periodontal disease, urinary tract infections, dementia
- Acute complications of diabetes: hyperglycemia, ketoacidosis, hypoglycemic coma
- Self-monitoring of blood glucose；SMBG, insulin injections
- Diabetes risk groups, Metabolic Syndrome, High triglycerides, High cholesterol, High Uric Acid and other risk factors.
Good control of blood sugar can reduce the chance of complications. Currently, there are about 1,300 diabetic patients in our hospital with excellent blood sugar control and have received multiple awards from the Health Bureau.
